luv thyself series - prompt #9

hey voizies 🤍 i need this post today. don't know what the prompt is yet, but i was feeling a little down this morning. some old memories came back to haunt me and some fears about the future started popping up in my head, but it's okay. we're gonna do this prompt and hopefully feel better. i'm also going to do a photoshoot with my sister. if you are new to my blog, my instagram page, or just me as a person, i love doing photoshoots with my sister. we do one every now and then and they actually are really nice because she's very talented with the camera. i'm making a photography page on the blog soon (yay!), and those shoots will be up for your viewing pleasure 🥰 so, keep an eye out for that, but let's get into today's prompt.

prompt #9: how do you practice self-care?

well... one way is through this blog 😂 these prompts may seem frivolous, but they do help me destress and reflect on more positive things in my life, or bring attention to the bad habits that i have so that i can target them. other than the prompts themselves, creating this blog and making it exactly how i envision it is very therapeutic. again, võice is my baby & i really love spending time curating the content and designing the pages to be real pretty ✨

another way i practice self care is through journaling. i hear lots of people say that pen to paper just works differently. so, when i can or when i get the spark to write, i actually sit down and write in my journal. it helps gets all the day's thoughts out on paper. plus, manifesting goals on paper really does add a tangible, achievable feeling to them. i should do it more often though. i used to journal daily, but as i got older, it kind of became a side hobby. i want to make it a daily habit, so here's to working towards that.

nails i did & am proud of

something that i am HUGE on with self care is skin & nails. gorl. i already take really good care of my skin and nails on a daily basis, but there are days where i add a little ✨extra✨. my sister and i try to set aside at least one day out of the week or every other week to put on a exfoliate, put on a face mask, and just relax. very fun to do with a sibling, friend, partner, anybody you're comfortable with really. i always sure my face and body are moisturized for the night. for nails, i usually get different color or style ideas in my head, and i get really eager to paint the when that happens. i will say they take a long time because i do them myself, and though i'm good... i'm not THAT good. so, it takes a long time to get my nails the way i want them, but it's worth it because i will look at them constantly for the next 2 weeks.

something that i should do more of (but i'm lazy) is exercising. i do try to exercise because i know it's important for long term health. to be transparent though, i began working out a while back because i was very unsatisfied with my figure. i've always been extremely small and pretty much built like a DOOR. that's rude of me, let me try again. i'm just super petite. my dad is 5'7" & 140 pounds, and my mom is 4'11" and maybe 100 lbs. i am 5'2" and around 110 pounds on a heavy day. being asian does not help with growing haha. sad, but true. so, because i hated being small and not curvy like other girls, i wanted to try to gain some weight and at least, be toned. i learned about weight training and just working out in general, so i have a couple small weights i use. i am still small lol. i am not very consistent and truly do not eat as much as i used to so it makes sense why there has not been much progress. the thing is though, i realized if i am working out for an image, to be seen a certain way, to fit into society's standard of beauty, it is not really self care. it is actually counter-productive because you are only trying to change your body for somebody else. so now, i don't beat myself up too hard about it. i am still insecure about things here and there, but hey. i am literally born smol, and it's okay. i hope i can get bigger, but if i don't, i should be working out for my health, not to fit an image of what i think my body "should" look like. yes. love it.

i think the last thing i do for self care is sing. singing is really healing for me. it's just nice to sing whatever i want. if i want to post it then i do, if not it's just nice to be in my zone and sing for myself. music is a safe place for me so, if i ever need a little me time, singing is a great go to. that's all for this prompt! please let me know what you guys do for self care :) byeeeee!
